New Leadership in the OTL
We’ve made some changes in the Office of Teaching and Learning over the summer. Dr. Susan Zvacek, who led the OTL for three years, resigned from DU. We are very grateful to Susan for her service in leading initiatives and programs around instructional technology, inclusive teaching practices, and robust learning environments!
We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Bridget Arend is the new Executive Director of the OTL. Bridget has been with DU for nearly 20 years and has a background in teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education and adult learning. Bridget co-authored a book about college teaching with DU Professor Emeritus and former Dean, Jim Davis titled Facilitating Seven Ways of Learning: A Resource for More Purposeful, Effective, and Enjoyable College Teaching. For the last 10 years, Bridget served as the OTL’s Director of University Teaching, and she is very excited to work with faculty members and academic units in this new chapter for the OTL.
We are also excited to share that the OTL will work more closely with Academic Programs under the leadership of associate provost Dr. Jennifer Karas. That move will strengthen the OTL’s alignment with the academic units and work currently underway with DU IMPACT 2025’s focus on enhancing and expanding the learning environment.
