Timeline for sun-setting videos in DU CourseMedia

Many thanks to those of you who have been sending in requests for continued access to titles already available in CourseMedia. We are busy collating the requests, reviewing licensing and pricing for them, and getting a handle on the holistic scope of the project’s impact on our budget. This may take us some time, so you may not receive an immediate answer regarding particular titles.

We do now have a timeline for these decisions; in the absence of unforeseen circumstances, you will not lose access to anything until next academic year:

Schedule for sun-setting videos in DUCourseMedia

  • December 31, 2018: Last day for faculty to “claim” titles they want access to in AY19-20. Please send in titles you need access to before the end of the year.
  • March 24, 2019: Faculty are told which titles can be licensed elsewhere, which cannot but will remain in DUCourseMedia anyway, and which will be removed.
  • March 31, 2019: Faculty revise “claimed” titles decisions, as necessary (e.g., we’ve found some faculty will choose another film if the one they requested has restrictions or obscene costs associated with it)
  • August 20, 2019: Relevant titles are removed from DUCourseMedia

We hope this give you ample time to prepare for any changes you may need to make for Fall 2019.

Please contact Jack Maness if you have any questions, and thanks for your patience as we work through this.
