DU Faculty and Staff who have videos on the Adobe Connect server (http://connect.du.edu) will need to download them and convert to MP4 format.

This step requires the Adobe Connect Add-In for your browser. OTL recommends using Chrome or Firefox. Safari for Mac has extra steps to install a browser plugin.

To determine whether you have the Adobe Connect Add-in installed, go to the Test Meeting Connection  page. At the top of the page, the Diagnostic Test will run automatically. If the Adobe Connect Add-in is not installed (step 4 of the test), click Install Add-in to install it.

Alternatively, you can install the Adobe Connect Add-in in either of the following ways:

Lightning install: If you are a Host or a Presenter in a Connect meeting: Login to http://connect.du.edu and start any of your meetings

Open the Help menu and click Install Adobe Connect Addin.

When asked if you want to install the add-in, click Yes

The add-in will automatically download and install. It will then remove you from the meeting room and reconnect you to the room using the Adobe Connect Add-in.

Manual download and install: If the test website installation or the Lightning install method does not work, you can manually download the Adobe Connect Add-in and install it. Windows and Mac versions are available on the Adobe Connect Downloads  page.

Converting your meeting to an MP4 file requires your computer play back the meeting at regular speed in the Connect plugin. You will be able to use the computer for other tasks while the recording is processing, but you should disable any screensaver before starting this process.

  1. From the http://connect.du.edu webpage, click on your meeting.
  2. Click on the Recordings tab.

Navigate to the properties page for your recording.

From the “Actions” drop-down list, choose Make Offline.

When the “Offline Recording” window opens, choose Next, and then choose the following settings:

  • Preset: MP4
  • Video quality presets: HD
  • Advanced Options: Check the box
  • Resolution: 720p
  • Quality: 100
  • Profile: Main
  • Bandwidth: 1.5mbps
  • FPS: 30
Adobe Connect Manager Offline Recording box
  • Click Proceed with Offline Recording, name your file, and choose a location on your computer to save it. Click Save.

The tool will play back the recording, convert it to MP4 format, and save it on your local computer. When the process is finished, you’ll see the “Recording Summary” dialog box with a summary of the process. Click OK to finish.
