The University of Denver is committed to supporting all of our faculty members in their teaching. Even if you have taught elsewhere, or have experience here at DU, we want to provide you with the most current information and resources so that you can make a strong start to your DU teaching career.

Provost Welcome

What is the Teaching Foundations Short Course?

The Teaching Foundations Short Course introduces faculty members to DU and the resources available to them, as well as provides an overview of the latest best practices in higher education pedagogy and educational technology.

The course is offered online in our course management system through a series of five online modules. It is self-paced and can be used when needed as a resource containing the latest information about teaching at DU. If your department requests that you complete the Teaching Foundations Short Course, you will need to submit the unit quizzes and reflection assignments.

Who should take this course?

The Teaching Foundations Short Course (formerly Teaching@DU Workshop) is designed for DU instructors (adjunct faculty, graduate teaching instructors, and visiting faculty). This course is open to faculty members who have not participated in the Teaching @ DU Workshop (formerly New Faculty Workshop) targeted to new full-time DU faculty members.

How will the Teaching Foundations Short Course benefit me?

If you are in a new part-time teaching role at DU, even if you have taught elsewhere, this course is designed to provide you with an overview of the various resources available to help you achieve your full potential as a DU instructor. The course is designed so that you spend time on the aspects most relevant to your needs.
