Look at the small camera to establish eye contact with your viewers. Avoid the \u201cup the nose\u201d camera angle.<br><br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/cms-assets.tutsplus.com\/uploads\/users\/930\/posts\/27228\/image\/webcam-headroom-grid.jpg\" width=\"850\" height=\"478\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lighting:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t record in a dark room, it will create a spooky effect. Avoid recording yourself in front of a window, this will create a silhouette effect. Place 1-2 lights to shine a light on your face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-d1bec857-cb40-449d-8e87-791ad37cac5e\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uploads.panopto.com\/2017\/04\/28132654\/webcam-setup.png\" width=\"641\" height=\"375\"><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Background Distractions:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Avoid recording in a cluttered room; busy office space and personal spaces (bedrooms, kitchens) are very distracting. If you are using <a href=\"https:\/\/support.zoom.us\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/210707503-Virtual-Background\">ZOOM, try using virtual backgrounds<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Duration:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep welcome videos short, 5-10 minutes is the recommended time frame. Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/otl.du.edu\/knowledgebase\/kaltura-creating-a-course-welcome-video\/\">Creating a Course Welcome Video<\/a>  to learn more.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>TV Personality:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One important point to a welcome video is to illustrate your personality in order to reduce the distance feeling between the instructor and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"sound\">Tips for Recording Good Sound <strong>Quality:<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Find a quiet room with minimal distracting background noise. Invest in a good quality microphone if you plan on doing several videos. Read the text on your slides and describe any chats in detail so that people with visual impairments can visualize what you are showing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Text and Images:<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Video is a visual medium, make sure to include related images to your presentation to help learners make a mental model about your lecture content. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Use PowerPoint, Google Slides or PDF:&nbsp;<\/strong>Stay organized and focused on your message by using slides and screenshots.
