Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
ZOOM allows you to record your computer webcam and voice to create a video that you can share with others. This article explains how to use the ZOOM Recording feature to record a live interview and share the video recording with your instructor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- A computer webcam and microphone<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Internet access<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- A quiet room with good lighting<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Non-distracting background – Activate ZOOM virtual background<\/strong> if possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- If you and your interviewee are both in the same room, the webcam should be placed about 5-10 feet away from the people being interviewed (Speak loud and clear)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- If you and your interviewee are in virtual zoom space, be sure each of you are visible and centered on the screen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

- Go to https:\/\/udenver.zoom.us<\/strong><\/a> and download zoom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click <\/strong>the Zoom client meeting button. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Login <\/strong>with your DU email and password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Activate your webcam<\/strong> by clicking Start with video<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Click Start with video<\/strong> if you want to activate your webcam.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n Step 2: Schedule a ZOOM Meeting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

- Go to https:\/\/udenver.zoom.us<\/a> -> Login<\/strong> -> Press Schedule Meeting<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Enter meeting information and save.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Share invite with interviewee. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

Enter all the meeting information and click save.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n IMPORTANT! <\/strong>Check your Zoom Recording Settings<\/strong> to record “Gallery View” layout.
Visit https:\/\/udenver.zoom.us<\/a> and login -> Settings<\/strong> -> Recordings<\/strong> -> Record gallery view with shared screen<\/strong>. Also, make sure the Audio Transcript<\/strong> is turned-on. <\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n![\"Zoom](\"http:\/\/otl.du.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/Zoom-Recording-Settings-Gallery-1024x702.png\")
Check box for Record gallery view with shared screen<\/strong>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n Step 3: Recording Your Interview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Once you and your interviewee are ready:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Start <\/strong>your meeting<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click Record<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Select Record to Cloud<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- To stop<\/strong> the recording, press the stop button or click End Meeting<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Your Zoom recording will automatically be saved to DU MediaSpace<\/strong><\/a> and can be found in your My Media<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Find the Record<\/strong> button in the tool bar at the bottom of the screen and select Record to the Cloud<\/strong>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n ![\"End](\"http:\/\/otldev.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2019\/02\/ZOOM-EndMeeting.jpg\")
<\/a>Click End Meeting<\/strong> to stop the recording. Once you confirm to end the meeting, the recording will be temporarily uploaded to the ZOOM Cloud server. Your zoom recording will be automatically saved in DU MediaSpace<\/strong><\/a> for long term storage and usage. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n Gallery View <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n Important!<\/strong> ZOOM allows for Speaker View or Gallery View. Make sure you are in Gallery View<\/strong> (select view<\/strong> in the top right corner of Zoom screen) so the final recording displays a grid layout of the interview<\/pre>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Face to Face Interview<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n Tip:<\/strong> If conducting a face to face interview make sure to record in a quiet <\/strong>room, the audio is very important! Speak loudly<\/strong>, clearly<\/strong>, and not too fast<\/strong>. <\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Step 4: Edit Captions and Transcript<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Video and audio files will automatically have captions and a transcript created. The closed captions and transcript files are technically the same. This step is automatic but it normally takes double the time of the recording duration. For example, a 1-hour video will require 2 hours for the auto-captions to be created. Learn more about closed caption editing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step 5: Submitting your Zoom interview in Canvas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Your recorded interview has now been saved in DU MediaSpace<\/strong><\/a> and can be found in your My Media<\/strong>. You can easily access My Media<\/strong> at DU MediaSpace<\/strong><\/a> or from your canvas course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To submit your interview, in your Canvas course click the Assignments<\/strong> tab:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Select the assignment and click Submit Assignment<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Text Entry<\/strong> window will appear -> Click the Plug<\/strong> symbol -> select Embed Kaltura Media<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Select My Media<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- See your recording and click the Select<\/strong> button to add your recorded Zoom interview

Add any comments you would like your instructor to see in the Comments<\/strong> text box:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Add comments in the comments box<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Or you may upload your comments via a word doc using the Upload Document<\/strong> feature. <\/p>\n\n\n
