In most cases, this is plenty of space.  Here are some common causes why your Canvas course is running out of storage and possible solutions.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"#video\">Video<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#pdf\">PDF<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#powerpoint\">PowerPoint<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#images\">Images<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"video\">Video<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Canvas offers a few options for uploading video files. We some recommendations to help your stay within your storage quote and to ensure ADA accessibility.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avoid using the default Canvas Upload\/Record Media or Files section.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>No auto-generated closed captions or transcripts<\/li><li>No viewer analytics<\/li><li>Requires Canvas course file storage<\/li><li>Long videos will take a long time to download<\/li><li>May not be compatible with the student computer. Here are some common methods to reduce your PDF files:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All full-time DU staff have access to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.du.edu\/it\/services\/software\/adobe-creative-cloud\">Acrobat Pro DC<\/a>. To compress your PDF, go to File -> Reduce File Size (See image below)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/helpx.adobe.com\/acrobat\/how-to\/compress-pdf.html\">Learn more about how to compress PDF<\/a>.<\/li><li>Ensure that your <a href=\"https:\/\/helpx.adobe.com\/document-cloud\/help\/using-ocr-exportpdf.html\">PDF is OCR compatible<\/a>, this will reduce file size and make the PDF accessible. The file size could be decreased by 75%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Open PowerPoint<\/li><li>Click File and select Export<\/li><li>Under File Format, click PDF<\/li><li>Press Export<\/li><li>Post PDF within your Canvas course or upload to DU OneDrive account and link to it. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Solution 2: Create or upload your PowerPoint using DU Office 365<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Go to <a href=\"http:\/\/office365.du.edu\/\">DU Office 365<\/a><\/li><li>Click the PowerPoint icon on the left menu<\/li><li>Create your PowerPoint<\/li><li>Save your PowerPoint to DU OneDrive<\/li><li>Click File -&gt; Share -&gt; Send Link<\/li><li>Copy the link into Canvas as an external link<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advantages to using OneDrive to store your PowerPoint presentations<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>All audio and video content is able to be played as intended<\/li><li>All transitions, animations and GIF\u2019s are still active<\/li><li>The presentation can be linked with the Office365 tool directly into Canvas<\/li><li>Does not contribute to your Canvas Course capacity<\/li><li>Practically an unlimited amount of available storage space (1 TB)<\/li><li>When a file is updated in OneDrive, it will update within any linked content as well<\/li><li>Disadvantages to using OneDrive to store your PowerPoint presentations<\/li><li>Possible download issues for students with slower internet if the PowerPoint is large<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solution 3: Compress pictures in your presentation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Select a picture in your document. The <strong>Picture Format<\/strong> tab appears.<\/li><li>On the <strong>Picture Format<\/strong> tab, in the <strong>Adjust<\/strong> group, select <strong>Compress Pictures<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Under <strong>Compression options<\/strong>, do any of the following:<ul><li>Make sure that <strong>Apply only to this picture<\/strong> is not selected so that the changes you make here will apply to all pictures in the document.<\/li><li>Select <strong>Delete cropped areas of pictures<\/strong>. This option removes the cropped picture data&nbsp;but note that if you delete the cropped picture data, you won&#8217;t be able to restore it.<\/li><li>Under <strong>Resolution<\/strong>, select <strong>Use default resolution<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/reduce-the-file-size-of-your-powerpoint-presentations-9548ffd4-d853-41e7-8e40-b606bca036b4\">Learn More About Photo Compression with PowerPoint<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Solution 4: Convert PowerPoint to a Video using Kaltura Capture<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn your PowerPoint into a video with voice narration. Kaltura Capture is available in all Canvas courses and will NOT take up any Canvas storage because Kaltura Capture has its own file storage system.  <a href=\"https:\/\/otl.du.edu\/knowledgebase\/kaltura-using-personal-capture\/\">Learn more about Kaltura screen and webcam recordings. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"images\">Images<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>How to reduce large image size:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use a screen capture program: Many screen capture programs (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.techsmith.com\/jing-tool.html\">TechSmith Capture<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/evernote.com\/products\/skitch\">Evernote Skitch<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/how-to-take-and-annotate-screenshots-on-windows-10-ca08e124-cc30-2579-3e55-6db63e36fbb9\">Snip &amp; Sketch on Windows 10<\/a>) allow you to adjust the quality.<\/li><li>Try using a free online image editor to reduce file size.
