UDOIT Accessibility is a course-wide accessibility checker<\/a> integrated with Canvas from\u00a0CIDI Labs<\/a>. UDOIT (pronounced “You Do It”) stands for the Universal Design Online Inspection Tool. This exciting new tool scans your Canvas course, generates a report of accessibility issues that could impact students ability to learn, and provides resources and suggestions for addressing the issues. Use this article to guide you through accessing UDOIT Accessibility, running a scan, and interpreting the results through the prompted errors and suggestions. As of July 2023, UDOIT Accessibility has been automatically enabled\u00a0 in all DU Canvas Course.\n\nTo get started:\u00a0<\/strong>\n

  1. Open UDOIT Accessibility<\/span><\/li>\n \t
  2. Select the Scan Now button located on the far right<\/span><\/li>\n \t
  3. Understand how to fix the errors and address the suggestions below<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\nIf you do not see UDOIT in your Navigation Panel, you can access or reactivate UDOIT Accessibility, by taking the the following actions:<\/strong>\n
      \n \t
    1. Click on Settings on the left side bar in the course you\u2019d like to activate UDOIT Accessibility<\/li>\n \t
    2. Click on Navigation from the top menu<\/li>\n \t
    3. Scroll down and find \u201cUDOIT Accessibility\u201d<\/li>\n \t
    4. Drag and Drop \u201cUDOIT Accessibility\u201d towards your activated apps, and place it anywhere you\u2019d like, students will not see UDOIT Accessibility on their dashboard.<\/li>\n \t
    5. Make sure to click Save after placing UDOIT Accessibility in the desired spot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\"UDOIT<\/a>Once the steps above have taken place, you will see UDOIT Accessibility on your navigation bar. The screen shot included on this page shows UDOIT Accessibility circled at the bottom of the navigation bar list.<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

      Step 1:<\/strong>\u00a0The UFIXIT area of UDOIT Accessibility is where you review and address the issues found by the tool in your course.\u00a0 Issues will have one of the following statuses:<\/p>

      Step 2:<\/strong>\u00a0In the UFIXIT area, you can sort the list of issues, or further filter the list by opening the Filter options menu.<\/p>

      Step 3:<\/strong>\u00a0Click on an issue in the list to view the details about the error or suggestion and where it occurs in the course.<\/p>

      Note:<\/strong>\u00a0In many cases, you can fix the issue within the issue detail window and click Save.\u00a0In some cases, an issue cannot be fixed within UDOIT, but you can mark the issue as Resolved once you have addressed it outside of UDOIT and\/or determined it is no longer an issue.<\/p>

      Step 4:<\/strong>\u00a0The Summary bar at the top of the UFIXIT area will continue to reflect the number of issues that are outstanding and addressed to give you a sense of the progress that has been made. To work on another set of issues, you can either change the Filters in the UFIXIT area, or return to the Home page and select another pre-built filter.\u00a0<\/p>
