The bookstore provides this service to assist campus staying in compliance with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/laws-and-policy\/higher-education-laws-and-policy\/higher-education-opportunity-act-of-2008\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HEOA (Higher Education Opportunity Act)<\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Students on Financial Aid, or other third-party payers, are at an academic disadvantage to their fellow students who can pay for their materials out of pocket, as their scholarships are only accepted at the bookstore. At the request of instructors, we compile lists of course readings and make them available to students (typically via a Leganto module in Canvas).\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>We source material from library databases, public websites, and physical material held by the library. We can also scan chapters of books or articles as PDFs to copyright restrictions (up to 20% of a given volume).\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>All of the PDFs that we post in a course are processed for accessibility by screen readers, with the exception of <a href=\"https:\/\/webaim.org\/techniques\/alttext\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">alt text on images<\/a>. PDFs need to be made accessible using an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/acrobat\/how-to\/ocr-software-convert-pdf-to-text.html#:~:text=Open%20a%20PDF%20file%20containing,to%20edit%20and%20start%20typing.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Optical Character Recognition (OCR)<\/a> software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro.
