Introduction to Mentimeter

Mentimeter is a presentation tool that uses quizzes, polls and word clouds engage students for in-person and virtual classrooms. Unlike a PowerPoint or Slides presentation, this tool allows instructors to interact with the students in real time, by taking a poll or presenting a quiz. This tool can be used via a web browser, smartphones, and tablets.

Teaching ideas for Mentimeter. 

  • Brainstorm/Word Cloud. Use the word cloud feature to brainstorm anything you’re working on in class. For example, you can use random words as prompts to practice creative writing. 
  • Student led. Have students use Mentimeter to create presentations that get the class interacting. Then spin-off more presentations using the reactions of students. 
  • Interactive Live Polling. Polling your audience can be the most effective way to increase engagement and make a presentation dynamic and memorable. 
  • Create interactive quizzes.  
  • Interactive presentation. Create a series of pre-designed slide types can be customized. Combine interactive and content slides to create a complete slide deck.
  • Build interactive presentations. 
  • Select from different presentation themes or build your own. 
  • Integrated with free stock image and GIF libraries. 
  • Analyze data, export data in a PDF or Excel file, compare data over time with Trends.
