Overview
The ePortfolio Innovations Circle (ePIC) was a year-long faculty learning community designed to foster richer teaching and learning experiences through the use of ePortfolios. The purpose of ePIC was to advance high-impact teaching and learning practices for faculty by using ePortfolios in ways that promote student reflection and growth. Through participation in ePIC, faculty gained a deeper understanding of ePortfolio pedagogy and practical strategies for design, implementation, and assessment. They collaborated on developing strong ePortfolio practices and resources for the DU community while completing a culminating ePortfolio project that further advances student reflection and learning. By participating, faculty were able to develop rewarding partnerships with colleagues across DU while contributing to the broader initiative of advancing integrative learning and reflective practice through the use of ePortfolios.

Dr. Cindy Cragg served as the Faculty Fellow for ePortfolios. Dr. Cragg is an Academic Director and Teaching Assistant Professor at University College, overseeing both the Communication Management (COMM) and Instructional Design & Technology (IDT) programs. Under Cindy’s leadership, ePortfolios have been integrated as a core pedagogical tool across both curricula. As an early and enthusiastic adopter of ePortfolios, Cindy has become a “super user” of the Digication platform, advocating for its benefits among the 60+ adjunct faculty she manages and the hundreds of students enrolled in the COMM and IDT master’s degree programs.
The Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) and the 4D Experience team served as executive sponsors of ePIC.

The ePIC Guidebook was the main deliverable of this group, and was developed in partnership with ePIC members and other ePortfolio champions across DU. Its purpose is to provide resources, examples, and guidance for faculty and staff looking to create ePortfolio projects or center integrative learning and reflection in their work with DU students.
